Past three months busy for Lansford Fire Dept.

The past three months have been busy for the Lansford Fire Department.

During July, August, and September, the department answered 58 calls. They had responded to 61 calls in the first six months of the year.Of the calls, 11 were on automatic alarms, seven were for dwelling/structure fires, six were carbon monoxide alarms, there were six smoke investigation calls, five calls each were for EMS assists, motor vehicle accidents, and electrical fires, three responses were the deployment of Rapid Intervention Team, two each were for hazardous materials and vehicle fires, one was for a helicopter landing, and one was miscellaneous in nature.Of the 139 calls for the year, 27 were for automatic alarms.In the past three months, 40 of the calls were in Lansford, 10 were in Summit Hill, four were in Coaldale, three were in Tamaqua, and one was listed as "other."Firefighters spent 448.25 man hours responding to alarms and 432 man hours in training. There were 24 man hours spent with community service the past three months.A total of 360 man hours was spent on fund-raising in July, August, and September.
