BPW anniversary

The Tamaqua Business and Professional Women's Club celebrated its 64th anniversary with a dinner at La Dolce Casa as part of the regular October meeting.Special guests were members of the Schuylkill Haven BPW and the Pottsville BPW.President Phyllis Paisley was in charge of the celebration and meeting.Entertainment was provided by Eileen Maiser.The service organization,as part of its effort to provide advocacy, education and information, collected socks to donate the state Make A Difference Day Project.The next meeting will be held Nov. 1. jatowle@verizon.net.BloodmobileA total of 37 units of the "gift of life" was collected at the Sept. 21 American Red Cross Bloodmobile held in Tamaqua.The visit was sponsored by the Alpha Theta Masters chapter of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and was held at St. John United Church of Christ.Local volunteers included: Bob Shirey, Dolly Shirey, Darlene Zeckman, Robert Zeckman, Dolores Martin and Edie Hoffman.The next Bloodmobile visit is scheduled for Nov. 6 and will be held at the Tamaqua Salvation Army.Calvary UMThe Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service in Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church.Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.Also on Sunday, an evening of praise, worship and Bible study will begin at 6:30 p.m.This will be the last session with Christopher Hafer.Wednesday prayer and praise services are held at 7 p.m. in the church.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev.
