For years, Palmerton's organizations and individuals have had to attend Halloween parades in Satington, Lehighton, or other communities. This year they had their own. The first Palmerton Halloween parade in over 35 years was held, with even a thunderstorm failing to halt it. The event was sponsored by the Palmerton UVO and hosted by civic groups. The grand mashal was Dr. Robert Mendsen, a local dentist and volunteer for the Palmerton Porpoises and Boy Scouts.
