Charges of persistent disorderly conduct (two counts) and public drunkenness were filed by Officer Joshua Tom. Upon arrival, they found Fernandes outside, highly intoxicated and trying to fight with numerous males. Tom made contact with Fernandes and immediately noticed a strong odor of alcohol coming from his face, and that his eyes were red and glassy. He was also demonstrating poor balance.Tom asked Fernandes for his identification, and the man took his wallet out of his back pocket. Then, Fernandes looked at Tom and began yelling obscenities in his face. Tom asked him to stop and again asked for identification. Fernandes continued to yell and threw his wallet in Tom's face.Fernandes was arrested and placed in the back of Tom's cruiser, where he continued to yell obscenities at officers and people who were now gathered outside.Fernandes continued his antics by slamming his head and upper body against the rear driver's side door of the cruiser.Police learned Fernandes had been "cut off" at the bar and then became irate and tried fighting with his friends and patrons in the bar who had attempted to remove him and drive him home.
