$5 per capita tax in East Penn

At the Monday meeting of the East Penn supervisors' an ordinance was passed for a $5 per capita tax covering everyone 18 and older.

The David and Rose Marie Hauser and David Mack lot line adjustment was conditionally approved.The Carol Hoffman sketch plan is on the border with West Penn. The four-lot plan will come before East Penn as a two-lot plan because the other two are totally in West Penn.The preliminary waivers were approved previously for Duane Schleicher's major subdivision. He requested a 90-day extension beginning Nov. 15.A regional comprehensive plan public meeting will be advertised.Budget meetings were set for Oct. 18-20-Nov. 1-3 and if needed Nov. 14.Trick and treat was set for Oct. 26, 6 to 8 p.m.The largest portion of an interim sewer loan from Jim Thorpe National Bank will be paid off, but the remainder will be discussed with the bank since the money will not be available until everyone connects to the sewer. $340,000 is due now.Use of the Delaware and Lehigh Trail was approved for use by a trail run sponsored by the Lehigh Gap Nature Center.A printer-copier was sold to the fire company by the township for $1.Under public comment: Lorrie Shelly said she went to the boat launch and was told she would have to wait an hour while a rafting company picked up its rafts. Supervisor Randy Pfeiffer said the Fish and Boat Commission would not let the large companies use the boat launch. If it happens again she is to try and get the name of the specific company.Shelly wanted to know if anything could be done about the neighbor who has built within seven feet of the boundary.
