Operation: Touch of Home needs you and your help

Operation: Touch of Home, Inc. will be meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert.

Operation: Touch of Home is a local organization that collects essential and non-essential items and ships them to our local members of the Armed Forces serving in Afghanistan and Iraq.If you would like to help in this endeavor, please consider joining them on the first and third Tuesdays of each month.Currently they are asking for items for their next shipment, such as: individual packets of instant and powdered non-alcoholic drinks; snacks (jerky, candy, cookies, microwave meals, protein bars, cup of soups, nuts, etc.; games, movies, magazines, music; balloons to cover guns from sand, large zip lock bags, AA or AAA batteries, coffee filters, colored socks, sunscreen SPF 45 and higher, note cards/assorted cards, fly swatters/fly traps, etc.; toiletries/hygiene from baby wipes, lip balm, deodorant, shower shoes, foot powder, cough drops, cold medicine, pocket pack tissues, etc. No glass containers or aerosol, please.For a more complete list, visit the website at
