Results of DUI enforcement noted

The North Central PA Regional DUI Enforcement Program has released the results of Roving DUI Patrols held last weekend in Schuylkill County.

On Sept. 23, four officers representing four law enforcement agencies conducted a roving patrol, contacting and detaining a total of 46 vehicles. Five operators were tested for possible intoxication, with two adult DUI and one underage drinking arrests. Officers also issued 19 traffic citations, made three criminal arrests and issued 24 warnings.A second patrol was conducted on Sept. 24, with 53 vehicles contacted and detained. Four motorists were tested for possible DUI, with one adult arrested. Officers made one criminal arrest and issued 19 traffic citations and 34 warnings. Five departments were represented by five officers.A patrol held on Sept. 25 contacted and detained a total of 34 vehicles. One motoist was tested and arrested for suspected driving under the influence of alcohol. The four officers representing four departments also issued 14 traffic citations, made three criminal arrests and issued 18 warnings.Additional checkpoints will be conducted through Oct. 3 on state routes 61, 183, 901, 209, 1006, 309, 443, 895, 125,25, 924, and 54.The checkpoints and patrols are funded through the state Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic safety Administration (NHTSA).The North Central Highway Safety Network reminds travelers to dial 9-1-1 if they suspect a drunk driver.
