Lansford woman gets jail time for drunk driving

Fifteen area residents entered guilty pleas to criminal charges and were sentenced by President Judge William E. Baldwin in Schuylkill County Court.

Betty J. Dolly, 39, of 418 E. Patterson St., Lansford, on a charge of driving under the influence (DUI) of alcohol was sentenced to serve 90 days to five years in the county prison, fined $1,500, pay $300 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), and shall receive outpatient treatment. Dolly was cited by Tamaqua Patrolman Matthew Bynon.Erica Lynn Neff, 30, of 247 Old Birch Road, Jim Thorpe, on charges of criminal mischief, forgery and theft by cashing a counterfeit check at We R Cigarette Store, Tamaqua, was placed on probation for 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $490.20 to Ed Paperman, owner of the store. Henry Woods.Adam Joseph Sturdevan, 29, Port Carson, Colo., on a charge of theft of copper pipes from a home in New Ringgold, which he occupied as a tenant, was given credit for serving two days in the county prison and released on parole for 23 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $1,500 to John Belsak and $50 to district attorney's office for bench warrant. Walters.Brian Mark Furedi Jr., of 955 Center St., Sheppton, East Union Township, on two DUI charges was sentenced to serve 18 days to 12 months in the county prison and he started his sentence last Monday, fined $2,000, pay $400 to SAE fund, $100 to CJEA, and $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center. On two summary charges, failing to drive at safe speed and failing to give immediate notice of accident on Oak Street, Sheppton, was fined $50 plus $100 costs. Furedi was cited by North Union Township Patrolman Joshua Pavlick and Trooper Joseph Aponick.Dawn E. Brozyno, 30, of 33 N. Railroad St., Tamaqua, on a charge of possession a small amount of marijuana was placed on probation 30 days, fined $200, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. She was cited by the Schuylkill County Drug Task Force.Larissa Young, 42, of 121 W. Lehigh St., Coaldale, on three counts of endangering welfare of a child and one count of criminal conspiracy was given credit for serving 22 days in the county prison and was released on parole for 23 months. Young was cited by Coaldale Patrolman Jeremy Talanca.Steven A. Dondero, 38, Mount Carmel, on a charge of passing bad checks, placed on probation 12 months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $700 to Jennifer Dondero, of 131 W. Earley Ave., Coaldale. Broad St., Tamaqua, on a charge of retail theft from Walmart Store, Saint Clair, was placed on probation six months, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $199.52 to the store. Startzel was cited by Trooper Todd W. Heinz. The accident occurred on Ball Diamond Road, Tuscarora, Schuylkill Township, in which wires were downed from a pole.Matthew T. Edmonds, Lansford, on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, was placed on probation 12 months, fined $200, pay $100 to SAE fund, $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab. Edmonds was cited by Tamaqua Sgt. Richard Weaver.Joshua Christopher Crable, 24, of 121 W. Lehigh St., Coaldale, on a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was placed on probation 30 days, and pay $50 to CJEA. Bertsch St., Lansford, on charges of burglary of Pappi's Mini Mart, Coaldale; criminal conspiracy, theft and criminal mischief, was placed on probation five years, pay $50 to CJEA, and make restitution of $500 to the store and $738.81 to Ohio Casualty Insurance Company. Snyder was cited by Patrolman Scott Cramer.Jason W. Miller, 33, of 34 N. Greenwood St., Tamaqua, on a charge of delivery of a controlled substance was sentenced to serve 21 to 42 months in the county prison with credit for serving 24 days. He reports to the prison on Monday, Oct. 3, at 9 a.m. He also was ordered to pay $100 to SAE fund, and make restitution of $113 to Bethlehem Regional Lab and $40 to Tamaqua Police Department Drug Task Force.
