A Slatington man was killed Wednesday morning after his construction vehicle flipped down an embankment near the Blue Mountain Ski Lodge in Lower Towmensing Township, Carbon County.
The victim, Victor Bortz, 49, of Livengood Excavating and Paving in Walnutport, was operating the heavy earth-moving vehicle at about 10 a.m. when he lost control of it on Blue Mountain Drive. It tumbled down a steep embankment near a ski run and beneath a chairlift.The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Carbon County deputy coroner Robert Miller. State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
