Annual Panther Valley Children's Trick-or-Treat Party set for Oct. 22

A free children's' trick or treat party will be held by Lansford Alive's Community Improvement Committee.

The festivities are planned for 5-7 p.m. Oct. 22, with a rain date of Oct. 23.Registration for children in costume will be from 3-4:45 p.m. the day of the event at the Lansford Community Center. Judging will begin promptly at 5 p.m.It is with regret that the Committee for the Panther Valley Pumpkin Parade and free Children's Trick-or-Treat Party must cancel the parade portion of this year's event. The parade occupies the entire surroundings of the Panther Valley Stadium for approximately five hours and with the current activities held within the stadium throughout the season, it is for the sake of safety to our area residents and visitors to not hold the parade in the same vicinity. We hope to continue the tradition in 2012.The children of Panther Valley look forward to this annual event and to keep the spirit alive the Committee has requested and have been granted from Lansford Borough Council to move forward with the free children's Trick-or-Treat Party. It is the intent of the committee to enhance the party this year with more activities and, although there will be no parade, we will continue to hold a children's costume contest. Children do not need to be present to register. However, judging will take place on Ridge Street promptly at 5 p.m., which will start the event's festivities.Trophies will be awarded for the most original, unique, prettiest, ugliest, scariest, and funniest costumes. As in keeping with the previous year's free event, hayrides, pumpkin decorating, music, games, and candy will be a part of the festivities.
