There will be a free car seat check up and a Safety Smart Card event at the Walmart Super Center, Lehighton, on Tuesday, Sept. 20, from noon to 4 p.m.

The event is sponsored by Carbon County Safe Kids; Walmart; Pennsylvania State Troopers, Troop N; and Baltimore Life Insurance of Allentown.Parents are asked to bring the child who uses the car seat to the check up.A safety specialist will be on hand to make sure the seat has not been recalled, if it is installed correctly in the vehicle and that the child fits properly into the seat.They will also provide information on new updates on car seat recommendations; as well as when to turn a baby's car seat around to face forward in the vehicle and when a child should use a booster seat.In addition to the check up, members of Baltimore Life Insurance will be on hand to make child photo IDs at no cost to the parents. The event will be held rain or shine.
