Mobile Vet Center Van coming to Lehighton on Sept. 27

The Mobile Vet Center Van will visit Lehighton from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, at the American Legion Post 314, 314 Veterans Ave., according to Rep. Doyle Heffley (R-Carbon).

"We are pleased that the demand for the Mobile Vet Center has meant it will continue to visit Lehighton once a month," said Heffley. "I am honored to be able to facilitate this service coming into our community on a regular basis and helping veterans to connect with the counseling services they need."Some of the services provided through the center include: Individual and group counseling. Marital and family counseling. Bereavement counseling. Medical referrals. Assistance in applying for VA benefits. Employment counseling, guidance and referrals. Alcohol and drug assessments. Information and referrals to community resources.The Mobile Vet Center features a 38-foot mobile counseling center, two private offices, satellite communication and Internet service with the VA Medical Centers, video conferencing and tele-health capabilities, three flat-screen televisions for training and educational videos, wheelchair lift and accessibility, plus a full-time veteran driver and veteran counselor.Appointments are not required for Mobile Vet Center services.For more information, call one of Heffley's offices.
