Two defendants who were ready to select juries Monday in Carbon County court instead entered guilty pleas after agreeing to plea bargains with the district attorney's office.
Assault caseMarc Richard Spinelli, 24, of Spring City, Chester County, pleaded to one count of simple asssault. In exchange for the plea more serious charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercouse and two indecent assault counts were dropped.Spinelli was arrested by Kidder Township police for an incident that occurred on May 15, 2010, in a residence in the Lake Harmony area.However the female victim, from the Philadelphia area, did not report the incident until May 17 when she returned home and went to a hospital in her area. Hospital personnel called Kidder police saying the girl alleged she had been sexually assaulted. The victim identified Spinelli as the one who assaulted her.Sentencing was deferred.Palmerton incidentDaniel D. Colangelo, 53, of Palmerton, pleaded guilty to one count each of persistent disorderly conduct, public drunkenness, terroristic threats and criminal mischief.He was arrested by Palmerton police for an incident that occurred in the area of 305 Lafayette Avenue on or about April 4. Police charged Colangelo with causing damages to a vehicle parked in the area and also threatening Scott Strohl, who resides in the area.Sentencing was deferred.
