The JROTC of Panther Valley High School will hold a meeting in the classroom of the high school on Monday, Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. Parents/guardians are invited to attend.Summit HillPresbyterian churchThe Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, will return to its regular hours of worship and Sunday school beginning Sunday, Sept. 18. It was incorrectly stated in this column last week that the regular schedule has resumed.The congregation will host a Homeland Cantata Memorial on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 7 p.m., to observe the 10th anniversary of the terrorists attack on America.Beginning Sept. 18, the worship service will return to the starting time of 10:30 a.m. The Sunday school meetings will begin that day at 9:15 a.m. A fellowship time is observed following the services.The Rev. Frederick Rodgers is the pastor. Communion is observed on the first Sunday of each month.St. Paul LutheranSt. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill, will begin its Sunday Church School classes on Sunday, Sept. 11, at 9 a.m. The classes are non-denominational and all children ages 4 and older, regardless of religious affiliation, are welcome to attend. In addition to learning about the people of the Bible, the children are encouraged to reflect God's love through kindness and acceptance in their daily lives. Crafts are a part of each class and activities are planned throughout the year and for holidays. Several teachers rotate throughout the year, which provides variety to the lessons. It will begin at 10:30 a.m.St. Paul's Council will meet on Tuesday, Sept. 13, at 7 p.m. in the church.Scripture sharingThe weekly scripture sharing sessions at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, has changed to Wednesday nights at 7 o'clock in the parish rectory. Participants will be examining the changes to the Liturgy due to the incorporation of the 3rd Edition of the Roman Missal (English Translation) on the First Sunday of Advent (Nov. 26-27). There will be a cursory look at these changes during Mass beginning in mid-October.LansfordMemorial service and block partyA memorial service honoring Sept. 11 will begin at 11 a.m., Sunday outside of the First Baptist Church of Lansford, 15 W. The group will meet in the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Spiritual Library, 15 East Garibaldi Ave., Nesquehoning.
