Weissport Council plans to hire two borough workers to share position

Members of Weissport Council opened the meeting Monday by discussing applications of applicants who want a part-time job doing maintenance work for the borough.

Tim Rehrig, council president, said that all of council should be included in hiring the worker or workers.Council then went into executive session to discuss the applications and after a brief meeting, two men will be offered employment. They will share working up to 32 hours a week.Council member Arland Moyer said that hiring two workers assures the borough that someone will be available. He noted that if one person was not available, the other worker will be offered more hours that week. Workers will be paid $8.25 an hour.Workers will be contacted and offered the position.Council also discussed holding a budget workshop meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26."This is important to begin planning our spending now for next year," said Rehrig. "Last year we had some items that needed to be purchased in January that were not looked at. We are trying to get away from that."
