Community meal

From 5-6:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 13, a free community meal will be served at St. John's United Church of Christ, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton. All are invited for a meal and fellowship.Palmerton VFWAt 7 p.m., Monday, Sept. 12, the Palmerton Memorial VFW Post 7134 will hold its monthly meeting at the Palmerton VFW, 2020 Forest Inn Road, Palmerton. New members are welcome.Historical societyThe Palmerton Area Historical Society will host a meeting on Monday, Sept. 12, beginning at 7 p.m. with a short business session. The meeting will take place in the gallery of the Palmerton Area Library. The speaker will be Brenda McCandless, who will discuss quilts and quilting. The public is invited to attend without cost or obligation.Heritage CenterThe Heritage Center, 410 Delaware Ave., Palmerton, is currently displaying a second group of antique quilts. So many quilts were loaned to the historical society that not all would fit in the feature room at one time. The Heritage Center is open different hours from Wednesday through Saturday each week, plus the Sunday of the Community Festival weekend (Sept. 11).
