DUI arrests reported

Four driving under the influence (DUI) arrests were reported by state police at Lehighton, all occurring over the past holiday weekend.

Troopers said about 5:20 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 2, John Joseph Drexler, 50, of Wind Gap, was stopped for traffic violations along SR33 at the Snydersville exit, in Hamiltion Township, Monroe County. Drexler was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was placed under arrest. The DUI charge is pending blood test results.On Saturday, Sept. 3, about 12:20 a.m. troopers stopped David Hydro, 47, of Jim Thorpe, along SR248, a half-mile west of the Bowmanstown exit, in Lower Towamensing Township, Carbon County, for traffic violations. Hydro was found to be under the influence and was taken to the Palmerton hospital for a blood test. Troopers said charges will be filed.About 1 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 4, troopers stopped Larry Shoemaker, 58, of Lehighton, along SR895 at Lehigh St., in Bowmanstown, for traffic violations. He was found to be under the influence and taken to the barracks for a breath test. Charges will be filed, troopers said.About 2 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 5, troopers stopped Rebekah Shubrick, 21, of Lehighton, along SR248 at Club Road, in Lower Towamensing Township, for traffic violations. She was found to be under the influence and taken to the Palmerton hospital for a blood test. The DUI charge is pending the test results, troopers added.
