The Panther Valley Public Library, 117 E. Bertsch St., Lansford, is offering a number of events.

The library will host a Back to School Sundaes eventing at 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept 11.The sundaes are free for all school children, who will be able to listen to a story about the how ice-cream sundaes began.The sweet treats are an ideal way to celebrate the eighth anniversary of the library's opening day.Game night at the library will be held at 6 p.m., Sept. 15.Patrons are invited to bring their own card or board games, or play one of the many games available at the library.The Adult Reading Club will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, to discuss Sarah's Key by Tatiana de Rosnay.De Rosnay's U.S. debut fictionalizes the 1942 Paris roundups and deportations, in which thousands of Jewish families were arrested, held at the Velodrome d'Hiver outside the city, then transported to Auschwitz. Please call the library at (570) 645-3780 to register.Cake and coffee will be served.A journey in writing for adults and high school students will be offered at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 1. Join freelance journalist Gary Blake for an introduction to the many aspects of writing.The library is accepting donations of used books in good condition (no text books or encyclopedias will be accepted).Books can be dropped off during any library hours.
