Rush Bicentennial

The Rush Township Bicentennial Committee will hold a Community Day Bicentennial Celebration this Sunday, Aug. 28, at the township municipal building on SR54. Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.Festivities will include a live remote radio broadcast with Polka Joe Manjack, children's activities, informational sessions, business displays and more. The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.Also Sunday, an evening Bible study session, on the Book of Esther, will be held with theological student Christopher Hafer at 6 p.m.Next Wednesday, there will be an evening of prayer and sharing, beginning at 7 p.m.The annual Tabernacle services will begin Aug. 26 and continue through Labor Day evening. Special music will be presented by the Wehry Family on Sept. 4 and Larry Moore on Labor Day, Sept. 5.School lunchesDue to a federal mandate, the Tamaqua Area School District has raised the price of a school lunch for the 2011-2012 school year. The service will include the installation of Sunday school teachers and officers. Summer Sunday school will be held at 10:15 a.m.Registration for St. Peter's Pre-School will be held Aug. 30, for the 3-year-old class; and Aug. 31 for the 4-year-old class. Both sessions will begin at 6:30 p.m.
