Construction Mechanic Constructionman Gary E. Beaver, USN, son of Mr. and Mrs. George A. Beaver Jr., Lehighton, attended a sunrise celebration recently in Austrailia. Many of the men wore beards, since beards provide extra warmth. For the men at the McMurdo Station in Antarctica, it was the first time they had seen sunrise in over four months. For Beaver, the sunrise also means a trip home, soon. As soon as the sun thaws the ice enough, replacements will arrive and the men of Detachment Alphia will return to the U.S.
