Two fugitives from justice were taken into custody by Tamaqua police in two separate incidents this week.

On Tuesday Matthew Joseph Werthwine, 33, of 737 E. Diamond Ave., Hazleton, was taken into custody at 11 a.m. He was wanted on a fugitive warrant issued by the Doylestown Township Police Department on charges related to a hit-and-run incident.Early Wednesday, at 12:01 a.m., officers investigating suspicious activity on North Railroad Street encountered Angelo Maldonado, 21, of 110 Greenwood St., Tamaqua. Maldonado was wanted on an outstanding warrant, issued by Schuylkill County Senior Judge D. Michael Stine, for violating his parole. Both men were incarcerated in the Schuylkill County prison.
