Three area residents among 26 placed in probation program

Three area residents were among 26 who were admitted into the Schuylkill County Accelerated Rehabilatative Disposition (ARD) probation program, which is reserved for first offenders charged with committing a non-violent crime. If they complete all conditions of the program their record is wiped clean.

District Attorney James P. Goodman made a motion to admit the 26 before Senior Judge D. Michael Stine. All were placed for a year, unless otherwise noted:Brent F. Kunkel, 61, of 355 W. Water St., Lansford, on a driving under the influence (DUI) charge was assessed $500 assessment to defray cost of program, $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) program, $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account (CJEA), enroll in alcohol highway safety school, perform 10 hours community service and driver's license suspended 30 days.
