Fall clean up

The Tamaqua Beautification Association, Owl Creek Recreation Association, South Ward Neighborhood Committees and the Tamaqua Area School District will be participating in the Fall SKIP clean up on Sept. 17. Interested volunteers are welcome to join the groups as they clean up the downtown, Owl Creek and South Ward sections of the borough. Additional areas could be targeted if there are enough volunteers.Residents and business owners may lend a hand by cleaning their respective sidewalks and properties that day.Garbage bags, safety vests, gloves and complimentary beverages will be provided. Trash bags must then be placed beside a state highway for collection purposes. Trash may also be disposed of in a dumpster located at the rear of the Tamaqua Municipal Building, 320 E. The meeting will be held Monday, Aug. 22, at 8 p.m., at Sparetime Bowling Center, Hometown.All league members, as well as new members, are welcome to attend.Zion LewistownMark Shellhaner, youth pastor, will conduct the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Zion Church in the Lewistown Valley. James Cavellero will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in First United Methodist Church.Activities for next week include: Monday, Jesus In the Steps meets at 7 p.m.; Tuesday, quilters meet at 9:30 a.m.The next free movie night will be Aug. 28, at 7 p.m., with the presentation of "Wesley," a dramatization of the life of John Wesley.Refreshments will also be free.
