Rush-Ryan seniors

The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens Inc. met at the Ryan Township Fire Company with 35 members in attendance. President Eleanor Schmerfeld conducted the business meeting.Chaplain Kathleen Valentine offered an invocation. Reports were presented by secretary Florina Martin and treasurer Shirley Becker. Hub and Shirley Becker were congratulated on their 42nd wedding anniversary, which was celebrated on Aug. 5. The group discussed trips to the Bloomsburg Fair, on Sept. 26, and to Penn's Peak on Oct. 4.Martin and Becker provided inspirational readings.The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of every month at the fire company.Class of 1957The Tamaqua High School Class of 1957 will meet Aug. 20 at the home of John and Betty Lezousky, Schnecksville.Classmates will meet at 1 p.m. to begin planning a 55-year anniversary reunion, which will be held in 2012.All members of the class are welcome to attend.For more information, or directions, call the Lezouskys at (610) 767-2700 or Larry and Nancy Kabana at (570) 668-0346.Calvary EvangelicalCalvary Evangelical United Methodist Church continues hosting services and events at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road. The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service. The service will include Holy Communion.
