Golden Agers

President Ronnie Bazik opened the Aug. 8 meeting of the Panther Valley Golden Agers and led the group with a prayer, Pledge of Allegiance and singing of God Bless America.Guest speakers were Vicky Benack and Megan Rodgers. They are representatives of a newly formed organization, "Holistic Therapeutic Outreach Services" that will meet in Lansford. Programs will be for all ages.There will be no meetings of the group in the months of January and February.The next meeting will be the birthday celebrations and the indoor picnic on Monday, Aug. 22 at St. Joseph's Hall beginning at 1 p.m.Summit HillHope of ChristThe worship service for the Hope of Christ Presbyterian Church, Summit Hill, on Sunday, Aug. 21, will begin at 9:30 a.m.Voting concernsSummit Hill residents who are interested in participating in the 2011 General Election on Nov. 8 have until Oct. 7 to become eligible through registration.To register, call Billy O'Gurek Jr., (570) 645-3549.Anyone desiring to vote by absentee ballot can also obtain an application by contacting him at the above number.Scripture sharingThe weekly scripture sharing sessions at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will continue this week with a session at 7 o'clock tonight in the parish rectory.St. Paul LutheranThe Rev. Carl Schweitzer will lead the worship service on Sunday, Aug. 21, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Summit Hill. It will begin at 9:30 a.m. Rev. Schweitzer is a retired pastor from Catasauqua.
