The Zions After School/No School Program is currently accepting registrations for the Fall 2011-12 term. The program is located in the Zions Lutheran Church Annex at Third and Fell Streets in Weatherly. The After School Program has hours from 2:30-6 p.m. It offers a safe and nurturing environment to children in kindergarten through 6th grades, who otherwise would be home alone with little or no supervision.

Transportation to the program is available by a Weatherly Area School District bus, which stops near the facility, and is met by a staff person. Upon arrival children will receive a snack and begin homework with the assistance of the program staff. A computer lab is provided to aid the students with their homework. After homework there will be time for crafts, games and stories, walks and trips to nearby Eurana Park, all supervised by qualified staff members. Area residents and organizations also provide special programs. At the end of the day children are signed out by a parent or guardian and dismissed to their care.The program is also available on days when there is no school due to inclement weather, holidays or in service days. The hours are from 7 a.m. -6 p.m. with the children receiving meals and snacks as well as the many other activities offered by the program.The Zions After School/No School Program is a non-profit, non-denominational program licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare. It is a member of the Carbon County Partners in Progress and member of the Pennsylvania School Age Child Care Alliance. The program has recently received the prestigious Keystone 2 Stars rating from the Community Services for Children, Inc. The facility is handicapped accessible. The staff is licensed, qualified and friendly. Childcare subsidies are available to those who qualify.
