Three vehiclecrash probed

State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating a three vehicle crash along a Schuylkill County road on Friday, Aug. 12. It was one of three investigated by troopers.

Troopers said the crash occurred along Seltzer Road (TR630), in Norwegian Township. Eric E. Melusky, 18, of Seltzer, was waiting in the eastbound lane to turn left onto New St. while Shauna M. Quirk, 19, of Frackville, was eastbound. Quirk became distracted and failed to see Melusky stopped ahead of her.She swerved her 2001 Chevrolet Cavalier to go around Melusky's 1987 Plymouth Reliant. At this point Melanie J. Dronick, 68, of Minersville, was westbound in a 2009 Suzuki SX4. Quirk swerved away from Dronick's vehicle to avoid a head-on collision and side-swiped the Reliant. This caused the Cavalier to spin clockwise 180 degrees and come to rest in the opposing lane of travel. Dronick swerved to the right to avoid a collision with Quirk and her vehicle went off the road and struck a utility pole. After impact with the pole, the Suzuki rotated 90 degrees and came to rest against the pole.Dronick sustained a minor injury and was taken to the Schuylkill Medical Center-S. Jackson St., Pottsville. Quirk and Melusky were not injured. Troopers cited Quirk for careless driving.A one vehicle crash occurred about 5:10 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 14, along Sweet Arrow Lake Road, in Pine Grove Township. Troopers said Kevin R. Padova, 23, of Pine Grove, was driving a 2005 Nissan Frontier eastbound and rounding a left curve when he lost control. The vehicle crash into the guide rail along the berm, traveled another 96 feet across both lanes and struck an embankment. After striking the embankment the Nissan traveled 36 feet east along the embankment before rolling onto it right side on the road.Padova was not injured. He was cited for driving a vehicle at a (un) safe speed.A two vehicle crash was reported about 7:15 a.m. on Sunday along Weavers Road in North Manheim Township. Troopers said Isaac H. Newswanger, 32, of Schuylkill Haven, was in a private driveway and intended to go south across both lanes then east on Weavers Road. At this time Matthew D. Seltzer, 20, of Schuylkill Haven, was westbound negotiating a tight right downhill curve.Newswanger began backing out of the driveway and was partway across both lanes when Seltzer approached. Seltzer attempted to avoid a collision and applied his brakes but his 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse slid on the wet roadway and struck Newswanger's 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee. No one was injured. Troopers cited Newswanger for stopping, standing and parking outside business or residence district.
