Motorcyclists gather for Summit Hill show

A motorcycle show at Ludlow Park in Summit Hill didn't attract large crowds but it still raised a little money for its sponsor, the Summit Hill Recreation Commission.

Monica Marshall, president of the commission, said attendance by motorcyclists was low. In addition, the provider of one of the rides had to cancel because of another commitment.Marshall said the event, "Cruizin' In the Park," coincided with Lehighton's Bike Night. She said the hilltop bike show was scheduled when it was thought there wouldn't be one held in Lehighton this year. After last year's Bike Night in Lehighton, the Bike Night Committee voted to disband. Two months later, the Lehighton Downtown Initiative Committee agreed to take over that event.Another factor which hurt, she said, was the constant threat of rain. The rain held off until the event ended. The next event for the Recreation Commission will be a "Kid's Picnic" on Saturday, Aug. 27, 1-3 p.m. in the Ginder Park.
