Bert Osenbach remembered for service to the community

A new wooden children's playset, in the shape of a Jeep, was dedicated to the late Bert Osenbach at the West Penn Community Park children's playground.

Given for his more than 35 years of service to his community, the dedication was made during the West Penn Lion's Club Senior Fun Day held recently at the park.Osenbach who, joined the West Penn Lions Club in 1975, served on the Park Commission from 1994 until his passing last year. He was previously awarded the "Melvin Jones Award" for his outstanding commitment to the Lions Club.As an Army veteran, he served in Europe and was the recipient of two bronze stars. He was also the founder and Commander of the Andreas George S. Patton Jr. VFW Post 5069.The wooden Jeep-shaped playset was engraved with "In Memory of Bert Osenbach. 35 Years Service West Penn Township Lions Club." Participating in the dedication were family and friends of Osenbach."Bert was always right there to help no matter what the project was," a Fellow Lions Club member stated
