Pursuit results in drug arrest

A police pursuit resulted in the arrest of the driver on drug charges and the finding of a large quantity of drugs and money in the vehicle.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said about 6:08 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, officers observed a suspicious vehicle on the side of SR196 in Coolbaugh Township. Police attempted to make contact with the driver, who fled away. A pursuit then began as the driver refused to pull over despite lights and siren being activated on the police cruiser.The driver finally pulled over at the entrance to A Pocono Country Place. The driver was taken into custody and identified as Randolph McCoy, 34, of Coolbaugh Township. During the course of the investigation police found McCoy to be in possession of marijuana. A search of the vehicle revealed more than 200 bags of marijuana and a large amount of U.S. currency.McCoy was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, fleeing and eluding police, driving under the influence (DUI), and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was placed in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.
