Palmerton Chamber is sound financially

The Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce is alive and well.

The results of its recently completed financial audit, along with this year's budget, were shared with chamber members on Tuesday.Peter Kern, chamber president, said that for the year ending Dec. 31, 2010, total revenue was $17,347, while total expenses were $11,959.Also on Tuesday, Kern announced that the chamber, along with the Palmerton Area Historical Society, will host a dinner at Blue Ridge Country Club in Palmerton at 7 p.m. Sept. 20.Kern said the event will signify the beginning of the Centennial of the Incorporation of the Borough of Palmerton. Social hour begins at 6 p.m.In other business, the chamber:• Announced that items for the Centennial are available for purchase at the Palmerton Area Historical Society.• Announced that the regularly scheduled Palmerton Area Chamber of Commerce meeting at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 13 likely won't be held.• Announced that the Greater Northern Lehigh Chamber of Commerce will hold a joint lunch meeting at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 13 at Neffs Hotel and Other Side Restaurant. The theme of the lunch program will be "Navigating the New Healthcare Changes".• Announced that Miller-Keystone will conduct a bloodmobile starting at 11:30 a.m. at the First United Church of Christ, 457 Delaware Ave.
