A Monroe County couple was charged on Tuesday for not providing care for their child.

State police at Fern Ridge said the 7-year-old son of Deborah Ann Amoruso, 44, and David Gennaro Amoruso, 56, of Shotgun Drive, Effort, went to the residence of a neighbor about 3 p.m. and told them his mother and father did not feed him for the day. He also told the neighbor that his parents were fighting and he was scared. The neighbor fed the child and called troopers.Troopers arrived at the residence and found both parents passed out on couches. During the investigation troopers learned that the couple were too intoxicated to be watching over the child.Both were taken into custody and charged with endangering the welfare of a child. The two were taken to the county prison in Sndyersville pending arraignment on that charge.Anyone with information concerning this incident is asked to call troopers at (570) 646-2271.
