Two enter guilty pleas

Two men who entered guilty pleas to criminal charges were sentenced by Judge John E. Domalakes in Schuylkill County court recently.

Patrick Alan Smith, 22, Saint Clair, was sentenced on a driving under the influence (DUI) of drugs charge to serve 72 hours to six months in the county prison but escaped going to jail as he received credit for spending several weeks in a rehab center and was immediately granted parole.He also must pay a fine of $1,000 and court costs, pay $100 to Substance Abuse Education (SAE) fund, $50 to Catastrophe fund, $60 to Schuylkill Medical Center,a $50 monthly supervision fee, attend the alcohol highway safety school and receive outpatient suibstance abuse counseling. His driver's license is suspended 12 months.Smith was cited by Corporal Richard Nesbitt, state trooper, when stopped on SR1006 in New Castle Township. He previously was in the Accelerated Rehabilative Disposition ARAD) probation program for first offenders but violated probation terms and was removed from the program.Christopher Lance Buck, 25, Shenandoah, was sentenced on a charge of being involved in an accident and failing to stop to serve 12 months on probaton, pay $50 to Criminal Justice Enhancement Account, a $50 monthly supervision fee and make restitution of $310.24 to Vera Timko, victim, and $4,689.76 to an insurance firm.On summary charges of careless driving, violating a stop sign and failing to drive on roadway laned for traffic was fined $75 plus $150 costs. Buck was cited by Frackville Patrolman George Parnell.
