Lehighton school directors, who have been under siege at public meetings for the last 14 months, used the power of their office and a state meeting code to terminate the "courtesy to the floor" privilege, which had been a regular feature at the end of each agenda. The courtesy of the floor has deteriorated into being a time to launch charges and accusations against board members. Board president Marion Reid quoted from a guidebook for Pennsylvania Open Meeting Laws, which stated allowing the public to speak is not required.
