Vavra earns roster spot for Pan Am Games

Indiana Hoosier senior and Panther Valley alum Allysa Vavra continued her successful national swimming campaign qualifying for the 2011 Pan Am games at the ConocoPhillips USA Swimming National Championships held at Palo Alto, California.

Vavra finished 26th in the 200-meter breaststroke in which she broke her own personal best and Hoosier record with a time of 2:33:31beating the previous record of 2:33:57. Along with her 26th-place breastroke finish Vavra also competed in the 400 medal relay where the Hoosiers ended up 14th.If qualifying for the US Pan American team wasn't enough, Vavra also earned herself a chance to qualify for the US Olympic team at the 2012 Olympic Trials.The Panther Valley grad certainly had quite a week finishing fourth overall in the 400 IM and second in the "B" final of the 200 IM. After that Vavra stormed on placing 10th in the "C" final" of the 200 backstroke and ninth in the "C" final of the 200 butterfly.Next Vavra will try to keep her momentum going for the US at the 2011 Pan Am games. The games will be held from Oct. 14-30 in Guadalajara, Mexico.
