An American Red Cross Bloodmobile visited Tamaqua on July 20, collecting 48 units of the "gift of life." Two first time donors, Deanna Hill and Olga Rosado, participated.Local volunteers assisting Red Cross personnel were Jean Stevens, Dolly Shirey and Bob Shirey. The Salvation Army gym was transformed into a blood collection center through the efforts of Randy Gormley, Bob Zeplin, Jack Quinn, Mike Trubilla and Joe Rimm.This visit was sponsored by the Tamaqua Salvation Army.Vets groupAn effort is under way to form a club for veterans who served in the Iraq and Afghanistan theaters of operation.
