Rash of thefts, attempted break-in reported in S. Hill

A recent rash of thefts and an attempted break-in in Summit Hill has police in the borough warning residents to secure their valuables.

According to Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos, officers have received numerous reports over the last few weeks of bicycles being stolen and vehicles being entered and items removed.An attempted break-in also occurred at the All-Star Beer distributor, located at 250 N. Pine St., early Wednesday morning.Fittos is reminding residents that they should secure bicycles and other valuables by either placing them inside their homes or garages or chaining them to a sturdy location. He also urges home and vehicle owners to lock your homes, windows and vehicles and place all valuable items out of sight when you are not using them.If anyone sees or hears suspicious activity, Fittos said to call 911 immediately.
