Nesquehoning girl presented special award at Camp Cadet

Delana Nalesnik of Nesquehoning recently graduated from the Camp Cadet Program run by Troop N of the Pennsylvania State Police in Hazleton and received the Trooper Joshua D. Miller Most Outstanding Cadet Runner up Award for her squad.

The camp is held at Penn State Hazleton Campus and staffed by troopers, local police officers and many other volunteers.The goal is to introduce participants to the diverse criminal justice system and establish a positive relationship with law enforcement personnel. Camp Cadet is open to all youth and is structured similar to training at the police academy.All participants who attend the camp are addressed as "cadet" during the week. Cadets are required to participate in all scheduled events. The camp focuses on discipline, self-esteem, teamwork, physical fitness, drug and alcohol education, violence prevention and many other issues facing today's youth.Delana is the daughter of Bruce and Koreen Nalesnik of Nesquehoning and will enter the seventh grade at Panther Valley Middle School. Delana followed in the footsteps of her sister Tayler, also a Camp Cadet graduate.
