The Tamaqua High School Class of 1957 will meet Aug. 20 at the home of John and Betty Lezousky, Schnecksville.Classmates will meet at 1 p.m. to begin planning a 55-year anniversary reunion, which will be held in 2012.All members of the class are welcome to attend.For more information, or directions, call the Lezouskys at (610) 767-2700 or Larry and Nancy Kabana at (570) 668-0346.Middle school orientationChristopher Czapla, principal of the Tamaqua Area Middle School has announced an orientation session will take place at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 8.Parents of sixth graders, as well as seventh and eighth graders new to the district, are welcome to attend.Information will be presented on student schedules, activities, facilities and discipline.Individuals will meet in the school district auditorium, then have the opportunity to tour the building, accompanied by student guides.Homeroom assignments will be posted on the school's front/main door as of Aug. 1.Cross countryThe Tamaqua Blue Raider Cross Country Boosters will meet Aug. 17, at 6:30 p.m., on the steps of the Tamaqua Senior High School.A picnic for team members, grades 7-12, and their families, will be held Aug. 7 at Lake Hauto.For more information, or directions, contact Sara Tite at (570) 645-3117.Spay/neuter clinicThe Tamaqua Area Animal Rescue group is planning a low cost spay/neuter/rabies clinic for cats for the end of August.For more information, call (570) 527-6808.Calvary EvangelicalCalvary Evangelical United Methodist Church continues hosting services and events at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road. The Rev. Brian Reading will officiate at this Sunday's 10:25 a.m. worship service. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.The Annual Sunday School Picnic will be held following the service.Participants are reminded to bring a covered dish.Also Sunday, an evening prayer and worship service will be held, around the campfire, at 6 p.m.Next Wednesday, there will be an evening of prayer and sharing, beginning at 7 p.m.The Proclaimers Quartet will present a mini concert on Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. For more information, call (570) 617-2702.St. Peter's UnionThe Rev.
