Lehigh is happy

Football is back and Lehigh's Dean of Athletics Joe Sterrett couldn't be happier.

With the NFL back in full swing last week, Sterrett and his team were happy to see the Philadelphia Eagles return to the nest for training camp at Lehigh. After the uncertainty of the Eagles reporting to camp because of the NFL lockout, Sterrett and his team remained steadfast and prepared in the event the league would end the lockout in time for camp."We always had to be prepared for what was going to happen with the NFL's labor situation," said Sterrett. "We're just happy there's been a resolution and to see the Eagles back at Lehigh."Lehigh's staff had most of their work done before the Eagles came back into town. Field preparations had already been accomplished before the NFL lockout ended, but finalizing all the tedious details of rooms and food preparations made last week a busy time for Lehigh's front office."Making sure we have everything in order for the players and staff is the biggest thing we have to work on," said Sterrett last week. "Making sure all the players rooms are prepared and ordering all the food and beverages from our vendors are the biggest things we need to take care of, but for the most part, we were well prepared in advance for whatever scenario was going to happen with training camp."Joe Spencer of Macungie stopped by Lehigh's campus to get his first glimpse of the Eagles and was thrilled to finally have the team back in the Lehigh Valley."I come every year and I'm just happy to see the Eagles here again," said Spencer. "I think all fans were getting anxious to see the lockout end and now that it's over, everything feels like it's back to normal."Getting back to normal is good for everyone, especially for the people at Lehigh."It's definitely a good feeling to have a definitive answer about having the Eagles back," said Sterrett. "We know that the process was more difficult for the league and teams, but we're happy that everything was resolved and now the fans can enjoy watching the team at Lehigh."
