CCEEC to host dedication and open house

The Carbon County Environmental Education Center is planning a dedication ceremony with an open house event from noon to 4 p.m. August 6. The public is invited free of charge.

The Frederick R. Wallace Flight Pen will be officially dedicated. The newly completed structure allows CCEEC staff to more quickly rehabilitate and release injured raptors. IT was completed as part of an Eagle Scout project by area resident Steven Hutta and is named in honor of CCEEC volunteer and falconer Fred Wallace.The dedication takes place at noon. Staff naturalists will then be on hand to meet visitors and answer questions about the center's facilities and programs. No advanced registration is required and refreshments will be available.For more information, call (570) 645-8597. The center is located at the west end of Mauch Chunk Lake Park, just outside Jim Thorpe, along the Lentz Trail Highway.
