Palmerton will accept bids for a vacant lot in the west end of the borough.

Bids will be received for the property at 910 Edgemont Avenue until 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at which time they will be publicly opened and read aloud.Borough Manager Rodger Danielson said the borough would like to see the property serve a useful purpose."The borough purchased it in order to be able to clean it up and abate a hazard," Danielson said. "We'd really like to get it back in private hands and back in the taxes."As for how much the property might yield, Danielson said it's anyone's guess."We really don't know, with the market what it is today, we really don't have a good understanding," he said. "Hopefully, somebody will make a nice offer."The borough took over ownership of the property in November. Danielson said the property had been abandoned for many years, and cited various times.
