DUI arrests reported

Several arrests for driving under the influence (DUI) have been reported by Nesquehoning police.

On May 21 about 12:50 a.m. police stopped Robert John Yorke, 50, of 16 Deer Trail Lane, Nesquehoning, after observing him driving erratically. He was stopped along SR54.Officer Thomas Kurtz said Yorke showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. He was then taken to St. Luke's Miners Memorial Hospital, Coaldale, for a blood test. The test showed Yorke had a .13BAC. He was also charged with driving on roadways laned for traffic, and restraint systems.On May 29 about 2:53 a.m. Officer Carl Briener stopped Chad Zaengle, 24 of 230 Anderson Rd., Clinton, N.J., along SR209 near SR93 after observing him driving erratically.Zaengle showed signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety tests. He was then transported for a blood test, which revealed a .15BAC. He was also charged with driving on the right side of the road and driving on roadways laned for traffic.On June 12, about 9:59 p.m. Briener was dispatched to an accident on SR209, a half-mile north of SR93 intersection. Upon arrival Breiner found a Kia Sorrento off the berm of the road into a telephone pole. The driver was identified as Craig S. Cannon, 38, of 1525 Wetzel Run Drive, Weatherly.Cannon was found to be under the influence and failed field sobriety tests. He was then taken for a blood test which revealed a .19BAC.He was also charged with careless driving, driving on the right side of the road and driving on roadways laned for traffic.On July 1 about 11:17 p.m. Officer Brian White was dispatched to a one vehicle accident where a vehicle struck railroad tracks in the 300 block of W. Mill St. Upon arrival White found a Ford sitting on the tracks and stuck.The driver was identified as Edward R. Butterworth, 57, of 206 W. Water St., Lansford. Also found at the scene was a baggie of marijuana which Butterworth admitted was his.Butterworth failed field sobriety tests and was taken for a blood test. The test result showed a .15BAC. Butterworth was also charged with careless driving and possession of a controlled substance.
