David Kern of Tamaqua is proud of his 88 pound 1977 Motobecane 50 Mobylette moped, which he can ride like a bicycle or via its 49 cc 6 volt engine. In the '70s, moped makers kept the engine specs below 50 cc so people could ride without a required state license. Kern said it listed for $500 in 1977, but feels it's worth much more today. He hopes to have it featured on American Pickers, a popular collectors' road show.
