Two cited for Monroe incident

Two persons were cited following an incident in Monroe County that occurred on Tuesday, July 19. The arrests and others were reported by the Pocono Mountain Regional police.

About 12:07 a.m. officers were dispatched to Country Place Drive and Woodside Drive for a report of an assault. The investigation revealed that Nicole Batzel, 19, of Cresco, had an argument with Anthony Major, 22, of Tobyhanna. Batzel was found to be under the influence of alcohol and less than 21. Major was found to have supplied the alcohol to Batzel and he was also under the influence of alcohol.Police said Major was taken into custody and charged with public drunkenness, furnishing alcohol to a minor and harassment. He was lodged in the county prison in Snydersville pending arraignment.Batzel was cited for underage drinking.Also on Tuesday, about 10:43 p.m., officers were dispatched to Warwick Circle, in Coolbaugh Township, to a report of a domestic incident. Upon arrival officers spoke with the victim, who was not identified by police. After an investigation police arrested Alex Gambini, 45, of Tobyhanna, for simple assault and harassment. He was taken into custody and lodged in the county jail pending arraignment.On Saturday, July 16, about 8:40 p.m. officers on patrol at the Pocono Farms Community made contact with Stephen Delgiorno, 27, of Tobyhanna, in the parking lot on Beech Lane. Officers smelled the odor of burnt marijuana coming from Delgiorno's vehicle.Delgiorno consented to a search of his vehicle. Officers observed a hypodermic needle on the floor. At this point Delgiorno attempted to flee on foot and jumped into a nearby lake. He was taken into custody.The investigation revealed that Delgiorno was in possession of a bundle of waxine baggies containing suspected heroin when he jumped into the lake.Delgiorno was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, escape, resisting arrest and tampering with evidence. He was lodged in the county prison pending arraignment.On Monday, July 18, about 12:43 a.m. police responded to a report of a loud party in Room 110, at the Comfort Inn, in Mt. Pocono. Upon arrival several young males were encountered in the parking lot. Two of them were identified as Andrei Angheluta, 19, and Matthew Baccarella, 19, both of Long Pond. It was determined the two had consumed alcohol under the age of 21.Officers also identified one male juvenile inside the hotel who had been consuming alcohol.Police said Angheluta, Baccarella and a 17-year-old male from Tobyhanna, were all cited for underage drinking.
