Two hundred and sixteen PPL customers in the South Ward section of Tamaqua were without power for a couple hours last night after a tree fell on a power line located on Spruce Street. Neighbors stated they noticed a very bright flash and a lot of sparking prior to the outage. Responding in addition to PPL were South Ward Fire Company and Tamaqua Fire Police.
