A Tamaqua driver was involved in a two vehicle crash in which the other driver was charged.

State police at Frackville said Heather M. Haupt, of Shamokin, was driving a 2003 Ford Explorer along SR1013, just east of the Lakeside Ballroom in Ryan Township, about 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30. She stopped for a stop sign at the intersection with SR54.Troopers said Haupt then attempted to make a left turn onto 54 west and failed to yield the right-of-way to Christina M. Filippelli, 33, of Tamaqua, who was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Prizm. The front end of the Prizm impacted with the front driver side door of the Explorer.Haupt was evaluated at the scene by medical personnel and refused treatment, troopers said, while Filippelli was not injured.Troopers said Haupt was cited for a stop sign violation. Assisting troopers at the scene were volunteers from the Delano and Rayn Township fire companies and Ryan Township ambulance personnel.
