Several projects reviewed by board without comment

Several projects proposed in the area were reviewed by the Schuylkill County Planning Commission at its monthly meeting held Wednesday evening at the courthouse in Pottsville. The board found they complied with the county's comprehensive land use plan and returned the applications without comment.

East Brunswick Township has applied for a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) permit for removing sediment existing along stone masonry abutments on Indian Run Road Bridge and Wild Turkey Lane Bridge.Aqua Pennsylvania has applied to DEP seeking a public water supply permit relative to the permitting of an interconnection between the Cove Village and Oneida water system in Union Township. The project involves the construction of approximately 9,000 linear feet of new water main.Clair Ray Garman, Washington Township, has applied for a stormwater permit for the construction of a poultry barn on an existing operation.Gellner Industrial, LLC, 105 Tide Road, Tidewood East Industrial Park, Rush Township, has submitted an application for a renewal of a stormwater permit for its location.Tamaqua Borough has submitted a plan for review by DEP for revision of the borough's plan for there Reserved Homes LLC 6-lot subdivision on Owl Creek Road.Van Hoekelen Greenhouses Inc., Kline Township, was granted an air quality program permit by DEP the county board was notified.The municipal authority of the Township of Blythe has submitted an application to PennVest for the rehabilitation of the existing Crystal Run Reservoir and the upgrades to three existing water filtration plants to meet public water supply manual criteria, replace the meters of all customers and mapping the entire system.The board also reviewed the subdivision plan of Mark J. and Nancy L. Killian to subdivide a parcel in East Brunswick Township into one lot plus residue.Final rulingThe board was notified by DEP that approval was given by Environmental Quality Board (EQB) at its May 18 meeting as it pertains to Schuylkill County. The final ruling includes a recommendation for Pine Creek.The Pine Creek Basin currently has protected water use designation of Cold Water Fisheries (CWF) and as a result of a petition submitted to EQB by Friends of Pine Creek, this basin was evaluated for redesignation for Exceptional Value Water. The ruling approves no change to the stream designation of Pine Creek which runs through Delano, Rush and Ryan townships.Rule on subdivisionsThe board gave final approval to two subdivision plans.Kathy J. Hoffman, Upper Mahantongo Township, to subdivide 10 acres into one lot for an existing single family residential and the Joseph Walacavage Estate, Frailey Township, to subdivide 4.579 acres into one lot for construction of a commercial communication tower.Big B Manufacturing Company, Upper Mahantongo Township, was given a conditional approval for installing a solar system on 9.412 acres for an existing industrial complex.
