The meeting of July 11 of the Panther Valley Golden Agers was opened with an inspirational prayer recited by the group. Special guest of the day was Sally Mitchell from Weatherwood Nursing Facility. She stated that she would be available 24/7 if anyone needs information regarding admissions and activities.Names are still being taken for the Aug. 22 indoor picnic.Members celebrating birthdays during the month of April, May, June, July and August will be recognized during August.The next meeting will be July 25 starting at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph's Church hall.LansfordFall baseballThe Lansford Baseball Association is accepting registrations for fall baseball. Little League graduates through age 15 who desire to play can contact Bob Pavlik Sr., (570) 645-2566.Trip for serversSt. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church, Lansford, will sponsor a free trip to the Scranton Yankees-Louisville Bats game on Saturday, Aug. 6, for all altar servers and their parents. Information about the trip will be mailed to the families.Adult and teenage volunteer help is sought to help make the program a successful one.CoaldaleMovie nightC.H.O.S.E. is having its second free movie night in the park on Friday, July 22, at dusk in the Coaldale Complex Field. Free hot dog, popcorn and drink for the kids.NesquehoningMeed's church notesThe monthly Food Bank will be held on July 21 from 1-3:30 p.m. at the Meed's UMC Church in Nesquehoning.The free monthly dinner will be on July 27 from 5-7 p.m.The Senior Boxes will be distributed on July 29 from 10 a.m. to noon.Summit HillSHHS picnicThe Summit Hill Historical Society will hold its annual picnic tonight at Vermillion's Farm in the Mahoning Valley.There will be a brief meeting, directed by Lee Mantz, president.Scripture sharingThe weekly scripture sharing sessions at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will continue this week. The session will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the parish rectory.Sister's birthdaySister Mary Florence, former teacher, principal and pastoral assistant in Summit Hill for many years, will celebrate her birthday on July 27.Birthday wishes can be sent to: Sister Mary Florence Hawe, c/o Sisters of Mercy Convent, 515 Montgomery Ave., Merion Station, Pa. 19066.Food distributionThe Summit Hill Food Pantry distributes food to the needy in town on a monthly basis. Deliveries are usually made on the fourth Tuesday of the month between 10 a.m. and noon.For information about the pantry, call Rose Marie Armon, (570) 645-3604 or Sandra Hill, 645-4617.Bloodmobile plannedSt. Joseph Catholic Church, Summit Hill, will sponsor a visit by the Miller-Keystone Bloodmobile on Wednesday, Aug. 17. Miller-Keystone is the sole provider of blood to the area's hospital.A goal of 35 pints has been established. Persons planing on donating blood on that day can call the parish rectory to reserve their donor time. Walk-in donors will also be accepted.
