Political barbecue serves up fun

Mix a little chicken, potato, corn, cole slaw and conversation with some politicians and their supporters and you've got good ingredients for a summer barbecue.

The 2011 Bar-B-Q Bash was hosted by Pennsylvania State Senator Bat Browne last Saturday. He invited PA Representatives Mario Scavello, Rosemary Brown, Mike Peifer, PA Senators Dave Argall and Lisa Baker, along with constituents of the districts they serve, to attend the Bar-B-Q Bash at the American Legion Post 927 pavilion in Gilbert. Senator Baker and Rep. Peifer were unable to attend.Senator Brown said, "It's an opportunity to bring our supporters and constituents together for fellowship and reinforce the relationship of a joint effort in the community. ""We're always in our offices in Harrisburg or in our districts. This is nice to see our constituents out in a fun setting," said Scavello.Rosemary Brown agreed."It's a great opportunity in a casual and comfortable environment. We get to see and meet people who live in the district who have similar concerns. People feel comfortable coming to us with their issues. And it's a chance for us to show our support for our legislators for what they do," Brown said. The afternoon's entertainment was provided by West End resident Leigh Lombardo-Cole.
